Changes To The Contest App April 02, 2018
Following the Facebook privacy stories of last week and the European Union GDPR regulation coming into force next month, we made a few changes to the Contests for Pages app to give participants more explicit control on the information they share with contest creators. Here are the changes you will notice starting this week when creating a contest:
We added a new default question asking participants if they would like to join your newsletter. If you don't have a newsletter and don't plan to use participants emails to send them news and offers, you can remove the question.
We added a new "Like button for your Page" question type so you can more easily ask participants to like your Facebook Page. The contest must be installed on your Page tab for the like button to work properly.
We removed the Instant Contest offering. Since these contests were not explicit about the data collection from participants profiles, we now recommend that you create form contests instead.
You no longer have access to participants names when creating a Timeline Contest. You can however still use the app to draw a random winner and find out the name of the winner by clicking on the link that will take you to the comment on your page post.
We hope these changes will bring more transparency in the way informations are shared and collected through the app. If you have suggestions on how we can continue to improve the app for you, don't hesitate to contact us.
